My User Torque settings look good at 88%, but I was running them blindly at 94% and overboosting. Remember this quote from Shiv "Like Run 176 from above, Run 184 was with the default TQ settings if 90%. But this time it made 360whp (~10whp more) just through running higher octane gas gas. Run 185 was with User TQ settings raised to 92%. 366whp immediately. Run 186-187 was with User TQ settings raised to 94%. Power easily climbed to 378-379whp. 93oct guys should stop here at 94%." from: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100073 I saw that and put mine at 94%. I should have run datalogs, but we found out later the boost levels on the datalogs were flawed and would not read over 15 PSI (I did not see those posts until recently). In addition, I missed many conversations about how important it was to run a boost gauge. Others saw overboost and there were many messages about it that I just glossed over. If you run V2, have a boost gauge and adjust your user tq settings or you might be wearing out your car early. I'm really impressed with the V3 upgrades and will be installing it as soon as it comes. I really can not blame Vishnu for anything with V2, we are all early adopters of tunes on this platform, and we are taking a higher level of risk by installing things as knowledge about the platform and how to manage it is increasing over time. |

AFAIK, V2 works acceptably well. You monitor boost with an external boost gauge and adjust user torque settings during the year to maintain sub-15psi peak boost (ignoring throttle-closure and inter-shift spikes) regardless of ambient temperature. Simple and straightforward. A fucking monkey could handle that.
If someone wants a set-it-and-forget-it mild tune, get a turbo tuner, not a PROcede. If you install a maximum performance tune and do not monitor boost with an external gauge, you're being foolish and deserve whatever happens to your car. |
