Battery Coding Needed?

Hi,
New E91 owner. I am floundering through the INPA etc tools from bimmergeeks.
I "think" I can register a battery with INPA but recoding a different battery type will be a dubious process for me as yet.

My battery was weak and I replaced it with the same Ah (80) butthe new one is AGM.

Do I need to re-code for this battery or just register?

Thanks

Rich

If you change amp hour rating or battery type (Lead/AGM) it does indeed need to be coded in additional to registered.

If it was the same battery type and rating then you can just register a battery replacement.

Thank you for the help.
Can you recommend the best way to recode? I am studying a youtube video that is using NCS expert to read out a file, modify, and somehow write it back. Is there an easier way?

I followed this guide https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1338302 .

I did a mixture of option 4 and 5. It does involve NCS Expert but I also use NCS Dummy.

I did option 5. I am not sure it worked as I did not change the aH only the battery type (AGM). I switched from -B080 to -A080 for the NFRM and CAS ECUs. The instructions lumped FRM/NFRM together but I found them listed separately. I was able to follow the process for the NFRM but not the FRM. The FRM still has the -B080 parameter.

these steps:
<*******************>
1. Open NCSEXPER.exe
2. Select: File > Load profile > Select a profile that has manipulation enabled (profile name will vary or you may have to create one-- google this) > Click OK
3. Press F1 (VIN/ZCS/FA)
4. Press F3 (CS/FA f. EC) > Select E89 (chassis family for E9x and E8x vehicles) > Click OK > Select CAS > Click OK
5. Press F6 (Back)
6. Press F1 (VIN/ZCS/FA)
7. Press F2 (Enter FA) > Select E89 > Click OK
8. A window labeled “Enter VIN” appears > verify vin number is correct > Click OK
9. A window labeled Enter FA appears > scroll to find VO for old battery (e.g. -B090) > highlight –B090 and press delete on keyboard
10. Enter the new battery type –A080 (per Appendix B) in the “Attribute” box > Click Add > Click OK
<*******************>

I registered the battery in INPA.

How do I see that the coding has been updated to the AGM type?

Thanks

Rich

I'm not sure how to read it other than ISTA. When you register a battery change it shows you the current coded parameters before. That's how I check.
