Ordered a new GPS today
After 2 months of research and reading hundreds of reviews, I decided on the Magellan Maestro 4250. Got it for $250 with a year subscription to traffic service for free.
The concensus was basically that both the Magellan and the Garmin 760 had a couple of flaws, but both worked well as packaged GPS units. I got this unit primarily for bluetooth and traffic functionality. And secondary purpose is navigation. Hoping to have it by the end of the week. We'll see how it goes.

I've had my Magellan 4250 since last December, and have only one complaint - the volume while using the Bluetooth is too low. They just had a firmware update, which is supposed to improve the route calculation. Map updates are scheduled for Q3 of this year.
Good Luck... Where did you order it from ?? Mine only came with a three-month traffic subscription. |

...will be in my hands on July 11th!
What type of traffic services does the Magellan offer that iPhone Maps does not?

You know, I compared bluetooth volume on both units. They sounded equal to me. All of the reviews said that both units could be a little louder for Bluetooth. But what the F are you gonna do? Hopefully it will be loud enough for my needs. Got it from Amazon.com. Yea, Magellan has a one year traffic service promo going right now.

That is true. You can easily spend $700 on an aftermarket GPS. For what I needed though, it came down to those two products. I excluded TomTom becuase their traffic updates and bluetooth are not compatable with my Motorola Q and Verizon phone service.

Got the unit on Friday. Is all I can say is - this is a hell of a deal for everything you get with the GPS. So far it works flawlessly. The driving instructions and bluetooth can be heard loud and clear. Sat Aquisition & route calc is very quick. Unit is accurate. Text to speech is a great feature. Just registered for the free one year traffic service, so we will see how that goes. So far I am very happy with this unit and would recommend it. Cheers
