Aftermarket Stereo in e90?

Hello,

I'm debating whether I should yank my in-dash dvd player from my e46 and install into my new 335xi sedan. My car installer says that it would be no problem but I don't know if he's come across an e90 yet. I read somewhere that without the oem stereo receiver, many of the non-audio electrical functions fail on the car. Has anybody changed the stereo on their e90 to an aftermarket one? Mine is not the logic 7, just the standard stereo with no navi.

Thanks.
