Is my wastegate stuck open? Pic included

Hey guys, doing downpipe and I noticed that my turbo wastegate is open. Is this normal? I believe I set the MHD wastegate rattle fix, not sure if that has something to do with it. Do I need to adjust this?

Thanks

That's normal, our wastegates are set up to be normally open, and closed by the DME applying vacuum to the WG actuator to pull it closed when boost is requested.

Has anyone else had trouble installing the VRSF downpipe? I struggled with this all day yesterday, even had a friend come over to help and we could not get the vband on. It's like the flange on the VRSF is just a little thicker than stock and there is no wiggle room.

Open the clamp and have it rest on the turbo outlet, install the DP and the slide the v-band over the DP. Close the clamp and get the screw to grab one thread and then start tightening it down. The v-band can only really go on one direction, if you put it on upside-down it nearly impossibly to comfortably tighten the screw. It should be very strait forward.

Ok I turned it that way and wrestled with it, finally got it to bite. Hoping to put my car back together today LOL.

Well, I got it on finally. VBAND clamp was tight and snug so it seemed fine. Got everything back together and started it. After about 10 seconds white smoke came out of the passenger side. Is this normal or have I uncovered an issue? I turned it off immediately, tired tonight. I've read some stuff about turbo seals, burning oil, etc. Any ideas?

Nevermind, the smoking is gone. I do smell the coating burning off or burning in or whatever it does, but other than that I think I can call this job done.

Glad you got it done! I didn't notice smoking when I had my vrsf dp installed, but I did notice that burning smell. At first, I thought it was because the cat was gone, and it would always stink like that. But after about 2 weeks the smell went away. It yielded a very noticeable increase in power for me.

Great! I'm at MHD Stage 1+ currently and after I drive for a bit and make sure nothing is going to fall off the car I'll be upgrading to Stage 2.

The smell is likely the ceramic coating VRSF applies to their DP's. It'll smell for like 2 weeks then burn out.

Glad to see you got it in, had to drop the engine on mine to get it installed. Xdrives man...

"Drop the engine"? I had to lower the subframe, lower the exhaust, remove the passenger side engine mount and engine mount bracket, to get enough clearance. What a PITA. I definitely know what you mean about xDrives. Next time I have to do water pump and t-stat I'm dropping the subframe. It's not that hard and you gain plenty of room for that stuff.
