Forge DV help removing cap to remove spring
anyone ever have a problem opening the cap to clean and grease the seal?
I am about to install and the cap is a bitch to open. ![]() I am thinking of using WD40 to help...or is this a bad idea? any suggestions |

you think its gunked up already? the forge dv on my a4 we took it apart after about 3 years (22psi) and it was fine. didn't need it. about 6 years now i haven't touched it since then and the high speed datalogs show the motor is pretty much operating exactly as before. tough dv valves man.
how does the forge dv(s) work on the bmw? any real gains? the factory plastic audi ones kept failing at 22psi so i got tired of getting them replaced under warranty. took them a few years to figure out how to fix it. just curious why you put them in; are the oem ones prone to failing or something?

no gain. they are suppose to hold boost better between shifts. better throttle response.
most have positive reviews either is was put on too tight or grease dried out. |

Funny thing is that I asked the rep from Namo... and he stated that it didn't need to be oiled as long as the DV is screwed on tight, the pre-oiled Dv basically is maintenance free....

It is. Make sure you're turning it the right way and the right part. There is a collar and a cap, you want to turn the collar.
Also, if you aren't take them off, it will be a lot easier.

i hope it doesn't break if I use a wrench. what do you think about the post earlier about being maintenance free? |

i'm just saying the forge dv that i run on my A4 at 22psi peak 250K rpm on the k03s is a tough puppy! you may have a defective one. i'd check yourself since you saw that other guy's post with the blown motor thats a real wake up call!

on a similar note, I have the valve closest to the firewall that is stuck on the intake pipe. I have turned the clip clockwise and counter clockwise to get the DV to pull out but it seems to be stuck.
do you guys have a suggestion on how I can remove with ease without having to put too much force? I just don't want to break either the clip or the section sticking out of the intake pipe..... thanks |
