Checking The Turbos
Does anyone know of an easy way to check the turbo's for premature wearing?
Maybe slide down a tiny camera to see what they look like? How hard would that be anyone know?

I don't know what you would be looking for to be honest.
When I took my DPs off, I had the perfect view of the exhaust side and everything was perfectly fine. I think I would be more worried of the sound and the way they spin, and not the looks of them. Do they sound like they are grinding? Are they spinning with more added fricition? with what I brought up, I believe that this should be evident to the driver.

From looking at some of the turbos that have blown it seems that it may have taken them a little while to get to that point.
I guess checking to see for any problems before the turbos completely fail could allow some of us to take off the mods and maybe drive the car less till the lease expires ![]()

One of the easiest ways to check for wear is to look for shaft play, either fore/aft or lateral play. However, if you don't know what you are looking for, checking this is somewhat a moot point. If you work with a mechanic who has worked with many turbo applications, he would have a better idea of how the turbo should feel. All turbos will have some shaft play, but ones that are worn will have more than others.
