Great alternative to expensive square setups
I was looking for a square setup without buying aftermarket wheels since I did not want to spend the money on them and I actually like the OE wheels that came on my 2009 335i. I found another set of style 287s and now run the rear wheels all around. 8.5" et39 with 255/35/18 fits great! The handling is much improved and the car feels great around corners.

They are on the heavy side with 12kg/piece... Ultraleggera are around 8kg in 8x18 et34... that is a significant difference 4kg per wheel... just saying...

True, but for a street driven daily driver I don't think I can justify the cost difference between those and my current setup.

Was literally thinking about running this same setup today. Have the same car as you too, crazy. Is your saddle brown interior also?

I tried moving the front (et34) to the rear (et39) on same wheel (style 287) on drivers side 07 335i and experienced immediate problem (terrible crack/knock) noise accelerating from a stop on a turn. Swapped back and all was well again. The only difference in my application is that I'm running 255's on the front (which I don't think responsible for the noise experienced). Not sure why you're not experiencing a problem. You've used the front wheels from a staggered set-up on the rear which isn't suppose to work and didn't when I attempted it. Curious how you've gotten away with this?
