Valve Cover Gasket and Oil Filter Housing Gasket Leaking :(

My shop and I charge $450 for both valve cover and ofhg. and that includes an oil change

Hey I know you, I have taken my car to advantage auto before not bad for basic stuff. Have also been recommended maximumPSI. For more in depth bmw stuff.

By the way, I did my oil filter housing gasket and didn't need to drain the oil for that. Are you required to drain the oil for the valve cover gasket job?

One of those things where it's not necessary but people just feel better doing it anyways. Neither the VCG or OFHG require an oil change

How much would you guys charge for an oil pan gasket change on a RWD 6-sp manual e90 N52? I have the new gasket (from dealer), bolts, & oil level sensor seal.

Consider doing the engine mounts while you have the subframe dropped.

Agree, Strada. That's what I've been hearing. Might as well replace them with new ones since the process involves removing them anyway, esp with high mileage.

Yeah, you only want to go through this once! Just for fun, do the water pump and 'stat as well... never going to have a better opportunity!

After a while, you wonder what else to replace if it doesn't need replacing.
I replaced the water pump & t'stat at 70k miles. Now the car is at almost 150k, so wonder if I'm on borrowed time vs the Pierburg pump & the Wahle t'stat I used the last time will last longer than the original factory ones which crapped out at after only 70k!!

It's getting close! I think 100k intervals are good (The first on my car went to 140k!!!) but there is a lot a variability there.
