Biggest tire that will fit under a 335i?
I'm planning on getting a new set of wheels with some stick tires this spring for my 07' 335i. I'm currently running the stock wheels with 265's in the rear and 255's in the front. I'm not too worried about the fronts, but I would like to go a little wider in the rear. It looks like there should be enough room to get a 275 under there, or maybe wider depending on the wheel width and offset. I'm running the Bilstein B12 Prokit with the Eibach Sport springs....so the car sits just slightly lower than stock.
Anyone have any suggestions for an 18" wheel width (including the offset) and tire size that will fit under a 335i without it rubbing. I don't want to roll my fenders either. Any help would be great! Thanks

On my Pre-LCI E90 In the rear I am currently running 19x10 ET33 with 275/30R19 Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus tires and a 5mm spacer. No contact whatsoever. 10mm spacer was too much and rubbed. 7mm spacer may be the perfect fitment I want without rubbing but haven't had time to test it to confirm.

You can fit a 285 with minor rolling and the right wheel. A minor roll is basically unnoticeable. You would have to have two cars right next to each other and compare both pretty hard. Good chance you'll rub without a roll even with a 275 pending your drop amount. Finding the right offset wheel is the harder part to fit a 285.

If a 285 is the limit, I'm not sure it's even worth messing with new wheels...I'm running a 265 now, and a 285 is less than 3/4" wider...that's not much of an increase. I was hoping you could fit a 305 in there with the right wheel, but I guess not. |

I went up one size on my Style 189's with PS4S' 235/40/18 and 265/35/18. I just wanted a little more aggressive and fill out the space a little better. Why try to fit the largest and most expensive tire when it introduces other issues like rubbing and having to roll fenders? It will only look marginally wider if you kneel down and look at the rear. Wouldn't you prefer people look at a cool diffusor, exhaust tips or trunk lip?

OP I ran 275s on my rear with the b12 set up. But I'm running a 19x9 rear. It looked like I could have put on a ~10mm spacer without clearance issues if I'd wanted to, but that woulda been the max before needing fender mods.

The reason I'm looking to fit the widest tire is because I'm putting around 575hp to the tires, and more traction is never a bad thing. But like you said, it's really not worth the other issues to just go a little wider. I will probably stay with the 265's in the rear at this point. I was just seeing what my options were, but at this point it sounds like a 265/275 is as wide as you can go before you start running into rubbing issues...and I don't want to mess with that. |

With the bigger turbos I've got, and running an E40 fuel mix at around 25psi of boost....traction is a big issue. Trying to hook up in 1st gear is pointless, 2nd gear is about the same unless you really get into the throttle easy. I was hoping to fit a larger tire to get it to hook up better....but from the sound of it, I might be better off just trying to find some stickier tires vs. going wider. The Firehawk Indy 500's I'm running in the rear do ok....but there are some better tires out their that should stick more. |

I believe my current rear wheels are 19x10 et38. The perfect wheel in a 19" would be a 19x10 et40 if looking to run a 285. I don't know anything about fitting 18's so can't help there. Maybe you need to figure out how to curb some of that power in the lower gears. Boost by gear? |
