Best High Capacity USB Drive

I need advice on what USB drive people use when listening to music on the e90 cic system.

As of right now I purchased and use the Sandisk 512gb ultra slim usb, the audio keeps cutting out for 2- 5 secondsat random times when listening to music. Sometimes it cuts out completely and needs to reload which takes like 3 minutes or more.

I used to use a PNY 128gb drive that worked flawlessly but I ran out of space. Any recommendation on what to get? I was looking into the sandisk portable ssd drive. Thoughts?

The trouble with high capacity drives on these is that indexing time
on start up gets to be a big problem .
If you search there are some old threads on this.
