Pulling injectors without tools?

Hey all,
Wanted to do my valve cover gasket this weekend, but I am not sure how to proceed with the injectors in the way. The injector tool on FCP Euro is $100 and I would rather not buy it if im using it maybe twice in the cars life. That being said, I would really not want to risk fucking up injectors that are ~$500 a piece. Any suggestions?

Injectors stay in place, no need to remove for valve cover change. Only the over the top fuel feed tubes need to be removed/disconnected.

Perfect! Do you need to remove the retaining clips that hold them in place?

Buy a little swivel mirror for the valve cover gasket install! It's going to save you time because you can't see the back of the valve cover when installing it. You're completely blind otherwise and the gasket will try to move out of position over, and over, and over again. Trust me it sucks. Buy some big zip ties to hold stuff out of the way when cleaning the head and removing everything. There's a f**k ton of bolts. Keep track of the fuel rail lines, plugs, and coils. Lay it out on a table and put everything back on the same cylinder as before.

The pressure in these needs to be bled off before disconnecting them.

Just FYI, there is a diesel injector removal tool on Amazon for dirt cheap that works perfectly with our injectors. I'd recommend getting one. Or for a little more you can get the PR tool which does the seals too.

When I replaced an Injector a while ago...I just took the fuel line that goes from the injector to the rail off....screwed one end back onto the injector.....and pulled the injector right out. No special tools needed.

This is the way to go. No need to spend extra money on tools you'll only use once. I have done this multiple times and the worst thing that can happen is you slightly bend one of the lines, which can easily be bent back or probably bought for cheap. Regardless, you don't need to remove injectors for a valve cover job.

on top of this. MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE FUEL INJECTOR HOLD DOWN BRACKETS ON THE CORRECT WAY.

I did not do this. An injector shot out and sheared the fuel line, pouring gas all over a hot engine. Take your time, and do not rush. What will save you is having an air ratchet, because its a pita to get to the back bolts. Also, make sure your wires in the back do not get pinched between the cover and body for the engine. I learned real quick how meticulous you have to be with this car lol

Just put a little RTV on the gasket in a few strategic places and it will stay in place during the install. Key is "a little" and don't get the RTV on the face of the gasket. 5 bucks and you don't need to worry.

It works but you can damage the line. I can show you deformed fuel lines that I use for removing injectors They don't come out easy all the time. I have replace hundreds probably.

As long as you have some common sense and mechanical skills......you can get them out without bending the fuel lines. If you are the kind of person that can't operate a toaster, or tie your shoes correctly.........buy the special injector pulling tool

I get what you saying but some really get welded in there. Not even special tool helps. If you work on cars professionally you would know.
