Recently Replaced Seal Leaking Profusely
Hello! A couple of months ago I had my eccentric shaft sensor fail due to oil ingress. I ended up having the valve cover replaced along with all new seals all around and of course a new eccentric shaft sensor.
Problem is that I just noticed oil coming down the side of the valve cover. So I pulled of the vanity cover and found that the eccentric shaft sensor gasket seemed to be not fitted into its socket and had leaked all over the place. My question is, is the mechanic liable for this if the oil breaks this new sensor since this was all replaced less than 3 months ago? Currently the sensor is still working so I'm hoping I can just bring it to my mechanic and have him clean it up and make sure the seal is put in properly this time. Thanks for any help/advice. |

The bill of sale should state the terms of the repair shop's warranty. None of us can answer your question with definite certainty.
I would think the oil leak would fall either under workmanship or part failure. Did the parts list include a new ESS seal? |

Yes the seal is new. I don't see anything on the receipt or invoice about a warranty unfortunately.
