Walnut shell in cylinder

Hey all,
Recently walnut blasted my valves and I did a pretty good job cleaning up the walnut shells from all of the valve crevices. However, if maybe 1-2 granuals of 12 grit walnut media made it into each of the cylinders could that possibly cause damage? I presume that they would just fly out the exhaust valve within the first minute or so of running, but I would still like to make sure so I do not break anything.

Well, she started up and misfired on cyl 4 and 6 almost instantly and was really choking down for a couple of minutes. Cleared the codes and restarted it, ran like a charm. Only downside is I went the cheap route and got a harbor freight media blaster with no vacuum attachment, so I basically let of the walnut shell go everywhere. Had to clean up the mess I made in the engine bay and my garage. Went for a quick spin and now my entire garage smells like a campfire.

You can buy a 10$ adapter to put a vacuum on or even better if you have a 3d printer just give it a google and youll find the diagram to print it

The exhaust smell of burning off the walnut shells was my favorite part, I probably looked like a complete weirdo sniffing my exhaust lol. I did the same way, I borrowed a compressor from a friend and used the handheld blaster. Very little clogging, it worked great

Did the walnut blast a year ago as one of my Covid projects. I, too, got walnut shell in one of my cylinders. I fretted over it and tried several wacky methods to get them out before just removing the spark plug and inserting the stainless steel Harbor Freight compressor wand into the through the spark plug bore and blowing the shit out. Blew most of it right out. What was left burned off after a few seconds of a rough start.

Walnut blasting for the first time made an epic difference in how my car ran. Its a must-do for long term ownership.

The "bmw" blast tool is available on Etsy for $10. (3D printed) works great.

Thats exactly where I bought my vacuum adapter tool. Worked perfectly, and didn't get ripped off paying $70 from BMW….
