Auto trans cooler leak?

I was looking under my 335d last night and noticed a spot that looked a little different on the corner where the trans cooler thermostat is screwed into the cooler. It was a very small amount of liquid but it was reddish and more translucent than oil. If needed I can upload a picture... but I'm just curious if anyone has ever experienced either of these parts leaking? I searched through the forums and I tried Google as well. Can anybody enlighten me? Should I just order a new one for 40 bucks?

I imagine you could just replace the o ring, but I would replace the whole thermostat. I have not had issues with leaking there, but I have replaced mine a couple times when replacing the normal thermostat. I see them as maintenance items.

I honestly can't tell where it is leaking from exactly but I found a cheap new unit for $30 with the thermostat. I think that's the one I'm going to go for. I might look into replacing the o rings as well.
