edit: m3 was launched at 2500 RPM, that's weak. it was mis-shifted twice one of them probably past rev limiter and the other was too early

2 words: Driver Error.
With that said however, it is much easier to get a good launch with a car that has a fat torque band like the 135/335 as compared to the M3.

The M3 is a track racer. The 135i is very fast but a street car. The M3 will blow the 135i away after 100mph

Road and Track comparison has

M3 E92 at 12.5 1/4 mile at 114.8 trap and
135i at 13.4 1/4 mile at 104 trap.

Not even close without significant modding....
