Help with speakers not working
my speakers has been bugging me for a little while, something didn't sound right *sometimes*. i finally figured out my driver's side speakers aren't working. i have logic 7 fwiw. when i turn the balance all the way to the left and turn fader all the way to the front, i don't hear music (very very faint).
this morning, while i was doing this, i decided to turn up the volume, and suddenly the front left speakers work again! i turn the volume down and restore the balance and fader and everything works. i know it will stop working again... just don't know when, because it had done this in the past. my question is, what the hell happened? is it possible for speakers to be "stuck" until i give it a higher amp ? or could it be the amp that's going out? Please help! |

Hi,
Actually I have been experiencing the exactly the same problem(along with all other problems ). Sound comes back when turning up the volume, sometime it needs less volume than other timesc. I don't know if this has something to do with the other audio problem I have: Audio cuts out for a few seconds continuously after frequent use of 330i |

thanks for the link and the feedback. i'm sorry to hear your list of problems tho.
today i found out that if i tap the speaker on the door, it might cause it to work again... i think it's either the speaker or the wiring. i hate to take the door panel off tho anybody has any suggestion? |

Same issue
Hey folks... I'm experiencing the same problem... left door speaker cuts out from time to time, and comes back when I press on the grill. It sounds like a bad wiring connection, but thought I'd try to get confirmation before I dug into the door (I'd rather be hiking!).
Thanks, Mike |

i swapped mine from front-driver side to rear-passenger side and made sure the connection is tight. i haven't noticed any problem so far.
i'm not saying that this is fool proof, i'm saying i don't notice rear passenger speaker much. depending on your configuration, you might not be able to swap. |

You'll have to take the door panel off unfortunately. Sounds like a loose connection. See if you can find the bad connection and then take it to the dealer and have them fix it.

sorry to bring up an old thread but did anyone ever find out what the issue was? I've noticed that my driver door speaker will sometimes go out and require me to tap on it lightly before it comes back on. Was it really just a loose connector or something bigger?

fwiw i swapped my driver door speaker with passenger rear speaker and i haven't noticed any dead speaker. maybe it was a loose connection, or maybe i can't hear it from the back.

Did ya git it?
@TitanLH8:
I may have to tackle this issue this weekend. Did you figure out if these were loose connections or bad speakers? Hopefully they're loose in the door somewhere. Last edited by Swanem; 09-24-2013 at 01:25 PM.. Reason: Name change |

I am having the same problem. Speaker cuts out, but will come back when I tap on it (2011 w Logic). Before I take off the door, I wanted to know if anyone else was able to resolve this issue without having to swap a rear speaker.
Thanks! |

it literally takes 2 minutes to take the door panel off and check the wiring. you pop the trim piece running the mid length of the door (under the arm rest) and there are 4 hex head screws. then the panel just pops off and you can check you wires. Should be 2 connections to each speaker in the front door panel

A Simple test to see if a speaker works is briefly connect a 9v battery to the speaker leads. Speaker should "pop", if so it works.
I've also been wondering if the door harness is starting to fail. I had issues with the trunk wiring harness, movement of the trunk lid caused the wires to fray.
