Intake manifold not sealing
I'm confused because I'm still getting a lot of oil leakage near the back and under my intake manifold. I do have the swirl flaps deleted and the gaskets are semi-new. I can post a picture if necessary. You can literally see where the square gaskets are that cylinder 5 and 6 runners are visible more than they should be ... has any1 experienced this but me? Could I need new hardware? Or is my intake manifold warped perhaps?

Perhaps the intake manifold wasn't brought down on head nice and flat. Maybe back off the fasteners and level it out. People have warned about improper swirl flap ID groove to o-ring sizing. Oil could be coming from one or more swirl flaps too. You would need to remove the intake to check the swirl flap blanks though.
More on the swirl flap. A friend here and on FB forum pointed out to me that the groove diameter was too small in comparison to the ID of the o-ring. He thought he had an oil leak from VCG and it ended up being the mismatch of the o-ring described above. If the manifold isn't sitting flat, you need to address before other problems arise. Good luck. |

I took it off yesterday and tightened the nuts first before the bolts by the round runners and I'm going to see how it goes. I definitely need a few of the backup gaskets because they are falling apart. I might want to just order a new set of elring gaskets as well because I'm thinking the ones I have are not FKM but silicone. Anyway well see how it goes I just started working a good job at a steel yard so I'm hoping I have a better time affording all the wear parts that I need replaced.
