E90 335d Differential gear swap
Helping a friend in trying to go to a taller gearing on his 335d. The stock gearing is 2.81 and he wants to go to either a 3.08 or 3.15. It would be nice to have the specs from TIS for all the ring & pinion dims, alas not easily obtained. Since I'm a bit more in the ole school editions, this is a new area for me. So first, are all the pumpkins on the e9x generation on the "large" 210mm pinion size or did they also come on the medium 188mm? From the charts I have (Bokchoys) the 3.15 was available on the 330iMT and the 3.08 on the e90/92/93 335iMT. So, trying to keep the costs down, either a full pumpkin swap or do a refresh and just use the ring pinion swap with the desired gears. Saw the thread on options with the e46 M3 diff as well. How about using the 210mm out of an e39/38 540/740? There's also the 3.15, ring and pinion, out of an e46 325 MT, but pretty sure that is a med 188mm set up that would be chewed up by a tuned 335d. Your help is much appreciated!!

I think the N52 cars got the 188mm diffs actually. 210mm was for turbo and diesel - although generally, the 188mm diffs are plenty strong, but I don't know if it would still fit the 335d or not, the carriers are much different and the stub axles are probably smaller too.
