In my personal experience, the shxtshow usually happens occasionally at the weeknight and most often weekend night events, so if you are somewhat of a mature person and don't want to deal with idiots, i'd say take a day off work to go. It will be far less frustrating on your end.

Flying Miata? That company is just crazy, I don't see the pt once one does that…might as well get a…Hellcat LOL.

Well, you definitely have your bases covered.
No, there are a couple other companies with turbo kits or I can do the Edelbrock SC

My local track, Hallett, isn't super expensive, but everything adds up. That's why I don't have a track car anymore. Got tired of the expense and weekends in the garage.

I always had friends/family join so I could take them for a session on track. Brakes, fuel, entry fees, food/water (so you aren't eating a greasy hamburger before going back on the track).....even in 2013 I figured it was about an $800-1000 weekend..........which didn't include the cost of building the car.

The ONLY car I'd ever consider for track work or "track days" is a Miata. Low weight and low power means you're not spending a fortune on expendables and you're still having a blast. You're chances of a epic crash are also somewhat reduced as the Miata can't gather nutty speed like many of today's high powered, high limit performance/sports cars/coupes.

That's what I had. '90 Miata.

But my first on track experience (where I was driving) was my '04 R6. There was about a 45 mph difference going into Turn 1 between the R6 and the Miata.

I debate doing this all the time. However, I just can't NOT drive a fast car on the track though. If I have an M car, it's going on the track.

There is something fun about getting a point-by from someone in a car with 5-6x the amount of HP you have though.

No doubt! I've given plenty Miatas the humble point by!

Having owned 2 Miatas (NB with a FM turbo, and a NC) over about 8 years and many many lapping days with them, you are the few and far between that would let the Miata by and I salute you sir.

I find it’s just easier to bully the fancy ego driven cars off the track.

Good pt, ego is so annoying. Kinda a flipside is whenever I see horrible drivers flying by at crazy speeds in dangerous weather in totally inept vehicles. I guess they are just praying to have their first major wipeout or never heard of hydroplaning.

I just drive a 1M every day.
Family of 3. 6 year old has
grown up in it since birth.

No issues.
Skip on the SUVs.

To be fair, I wouldn't be getting rid of a 1M if I owned it either. Well played.

I never really had that problem, but our local track is fairly tight. They would get tired of being harrassed from 2-6 and the going into 7/8/9. The only real problem I had is people giving me a point-by and then not lifting.

Like, "Guy, you're in a 400hp Mustang, I'm in a 116hp Miata. I'm not getting by unless you lift."

thanks—it was my dream car so
am not gonna compromise!

i always loved the old school way
of driving and keeping cars. Buy
what you really want and use it and
build a whole history around it…

Automated enforcement is only going to get worse and self driving cars aren't far off. Enjoying a car anywhere near an urban area has its days numbered.

Tbh My desire for a sports car died off from years of commuting in heavy traffic. Wfh most of my driving is highly discretionary. Im much more interested now that my day to day isn't a soul crushing slog
