N57 325d ABS multiple faults!

Hi everyone,

On my way home Friday evening I was suddenly greeted with multiple lights on the dash and a few warnings on idrive. The ABS light, traction control light and brake system warning light all came on at the same time. idrive is showing: Driving stability, DBC failure, FTM system error and Start assistance inactive.

A quick google points towards a problem with the ABS system, anything from a sensor to the ABS pump.

Has anyone else had this issue that can offer some advice? I only have a cheap code reader that isn’t providing me with much useful information.

Thanks.

You need a more sophisticated code reader otherwise you are only guessing and guessing costs you lots of money!

Fortunately for BMW's there are several products around at sensible prices. My favourite is INPA / ISTA which is software that can be obtained for free and will do virtually everything you will ever need to. All you need is a suitable lead and a Windows laptop. If you prefer a handheld device there is the Carly app and Foxwell make a decent unit.

Get one of these hooked up to your car and they will point you in the right direction.

I would suggest checking wheel speed sensor(ABS sensor) before you go to abs pump. Code reader will let you know more about the errors.
