Hey guys .

I got a doc700 single kit on my n54 and have the OG Vrsf 7inch non hd intercooler . Starting to get warmer up here in Boston and I've noticed the intercooler isn't doing so great with the single
Kit . After searching a bit I've noticed most ppl with upgraded turbos or singles are going with 7.5 inch intercooler . The top 3 being VRSF , BMS, and ARM. Wanted to know how anyones experiences been with one of these intercoolers ? Any one have a specific quality that makes them superior? Only difference I've noticed is the the BMS has a hot side plate to direct airflow to the top part of the intercooler while the others don't , not sure if it helps or not . Any insight would be great thanks in advanced !

BMS and MAD, in my opinion, both intercoolers are very similar, 7.5" with high-density cores. MAD comes with a lifetime warranty

I would vote VRSF 7.5 race. It has 3'' in and out. I think BMS is 2.5'' in and out? Not that it should make a huge difference, or likely any difference you will notice, but the quicker you can get to 3'' intake piping the better in theory. I also don't think that divider does anything.

https://burgertuning.com/products/e-...nt-intercooler

"RACE Intercooler hot side flow diverter valve to ensure equal distribution through the large core at lower engine speeds" <-- At lower speeds who cares? The IC is so massive compared to stock what it does while cruising or at low end speeds means next to nothing.

The BMS only comes with a 2.5'' J/up pipe. You then have to pay $59 for the pipe to be 3 '' pipe.

BMS is $588 with 3'' up pipe add on
VRSF is $529 with 3'' up pipe stock

From there it should connect to your 3'' charge pipe and go into your 3'' throttle body.

At the end of the day any of these massive 7.5'' 'race' ICs are going to cool just about the same. I would expect no 'real world' difference. They likely all come from the same factory in China. VRSF had the 1st one on the market and quickly it seems that factory opened up sales to anyone who would buy pallets worth of their ICs. Hence why so many people are basically selling the same IC as far as I can tell.

Let's hope the Cs win!

+1 for the VRSF 7.5"

Includes metal piping for the cold side (iirc BMS's does not, it is extra). Install was easy (it is a bit heavy, I needed a jack), and it works wonderfully.

I'm not making crazy power, it's about 400whp on 93 but I consistently see my IATs drop by 3°+ on a 3rd gear pull. Multi-gear pulls just sit flat and that has included even in 85°+ ambient temps.

Thanks all for the information and opinions ! Looking like Vrsf is winning here , question what cold side metal piping is this? Is it in the intercooler like the hot side bms?

I also have the bms 3inch j pipe too so that would be great to keep it all 3 inches from the intercooler back I'll email bms and see what their end tanks are for anyone looking later

If you already have the BMS 3" J pipe it won't make much difference there. That's the cold side piping I was referring to

I forgot about that, yes it has a metal J or uppipe which is better than just all silicone piping. mainly because it is more durable. Again all small differences but it tips the favor to VRSF's 7.5 race.

It would be interesting to know the inlet and outlet size on the BMS 'race' IC. IIRC 2.5'' in and 3'' out but looking at the pictures online and silicone I wonder if it is both 2.5 in and out?

Just got on a quick chat with a sales rep at BMS both inlet and outlet are 3inchs, would that change anything or is the Vrsf still the clear winner? Vrsf is actually doing a sale right now and it's cheaper than the bms so I'm sorta leaning on the Vrsf heavily .

Yeah at that point, just go with the cheaper of the two.

Good to know they are both 3 in and out.

Cheaper of the 2(VRSF) and the VRSF has a metal up pipe. I have seen silicone pipes be damaged in that area.

If you really wanted to give BMS the business ask them to price match. Again it is VERY likely the exact same product, minus that weird diverger metal piece spot welded in. Real world performance will be identical between the two.
