Epic Weekend

I had an epic weekend whitewater rafting with my son and four of my grand kids. We were on the American River in California.

Here are a couple of action shots. I'm in the front with two of my granddaughters right behind me.

Here's the challenge:

Post a photo of a recent epic adventure. Show us what you've got!

I love that you're taking the grandkids and making memories. Those memories by far will outlast any gift you could buy them!

We are fortunate in that all 6 grand kids live close to us and they all want to spend time with us. Our newly-minted 16-year-old is understandably moving away from hanging out, but the other 5 are ready for anything. Any epic adventure I have will usually involve one or more of them!

Epic indeed! Glad you had a fun and safe and exciting adventure.

We didn't do anything that cool. The best I could come up w was there was a major thunderstorm that caused havoc throughout the whole Montreal area and beyond. I had to fill up before driving into the city but large parts of where we were were completely blacked-out (no electricity or lights and literally pitch dark so had to be extra careful crossing intersections) w all the gas stns rendered inoperative. Told the wife, if we can't fill up, we're not going anywhere cuz we were running on empty. Luckily, finally found a working gas stn after driving around some more.

Some local photos of what was going on:

My wife and I sat in the fifth row to see Bill Burr Saturday night. Great seats and a great show. First show or concert type event we’ve been to since at least 2019 and it was great.

But I have no pictures because we were required to put our phones in something called a Yondr pouch so they couldn’t be used. Needed phone to show ticket to get in, then someone wrote down our seats on a piece of paper they handed us and then someone else made us put our phones in the pouch.

Friday night we saw Mark Normand at the comedy club downtown. We were sitting right at the stage. I'm guessing the venue probably holds 250-300 people the way they have us packed in there?

Then went to one of our favorite brunch spots Sunday morning. It's too damn easy to drop $100 on brunch.

No joke. We have tickets to see him later this year, and Tom Segura. Probably get tickets to see Drew Lynch in November as well.

Looks like fun. I'm past that level of adventure age-wise, but I totally get the attraction. I go to Yosemite and see that crazies climbing El Capitan and I wish I was young enough and fit enough. Instead, I take the hiking trail.

Have you watched Free Solo? The training leading up to Alex Honnold climbing "free climbing" up El Capitan......IE, not tied in, no safety harnesses, etc.

Went on a cruise to Galena, IL with some friends. Through all the crappy flat and straight roads in Illinois, Galena is one of the few bright spots with hilly terrain and twisties, so makes for a great cruising destination.

Lineup:

Golf R
Giulia
m850i
718 GTS
996 Turbo
WRX
Camaro SS
