Changing lights to drive in France
Hi all,
Hoping to get some advice from the group. We are taking the E93 to France/ Belgium this week, and will need to change the lights to LHD configuration. I've done a few searches, and can't find a definitive answer to how to do this. Q1: does my car have a switch? it's a 2007 E93 330i. It has halos, but the lights are yellow not bright white. I believe they are OEM. Q2: if it does have a switch, where is it? Q3: can I just use stick on deflectors anyway? Some pics: Many thanks in advance! |

You need stickers. There is no switch on the E9x platform.

I’ve thought about this before but when I parked the car up against a wall to see the beam pattern it seemed almost flat all the way across so I assumed no alteration is required. On other cars I’ve had the beam pattern raised quite significantly on the left side which is what needed to be blocked but E9x lights don’t seem to do this, well, my xenon equipped E92 doesn’t anyway.

I took my Beemer to Normandy not long after I got it. I bought a set of beam benders with the intention of fitting them, but never got around to it. To be fair, I wasn't planning any night driving and when I put the lights on in the rain, I just used the headlight adjustment wheel to aim them right down and never got flashed by anyone.

Incorrect. There is a white lever inside the headlight to adjust the beam pattern. Remove the access cover and there is a white lever. I cant remember if you push it up or down, try both until you hear a click.
I did this on my 2012 M3 and it passed the TUV (German MOT) like this. The car is a UK-supplied RHD car. M3's never got the LCI headlights as it would have required bodywork changes. Also these is no mention of the lever in my owners manual.

Ya I dont know why BMW dont document this. First I heard of it was from a friend that did the same thing (register a rhd car in Germany). I believe it is in the owners manual of early cars.
I did subsequently find a thread and some pictures about it on cutters.
