318d exhaust leak in cabin. (turbo lag)

hi, this is for the N47.
I noticed the car throws a lot of exhaust fumes into the cabin when the a/c or cabin air is turned on.
Excessive fumes are also noticeable when standing outside the car.
it is very noticeable and even makes me nauseous so needs to be addressed.

I suspect it to be a turbo leak of some kind. Maybe so sensor housing has melted? as I've seen similar things happen to others. I also notice a considerable boost lag, however idk if this is standard for the N47.

the cabin air filter is new but I doubt that can make much difference in regards to exhaust fumes.

Any help would be much appreciated.

edit: No check engine light

Check intake charge pipe, at the intercooler connection, sometimes these plastic pipes crack.
In terms of the smell, could be a range of things. I had this problem when my egr valve was stuck open and my intake manifold melted and had a leak.
