Sanding/Restoring LCI taillights
I'm not sure when it happened, but the LCI taillights on my '12 e92 are showing a decent amount of scratches. So much so, that the taillights have become a bit foggy. I want to be able to restore them, so they can be glossy and clear once more.
I've restored headlights before on other vehicles. Wetsanding them down with various fine grits, then shooting some sort of headlight clear sealant to finish it off. Question is, can the same be done on the taillights? Will I damage the red coating, as I'm not sure if that's on the outside or inside of the lens? Anyone had experience with this? |

The lens are red plastic, it is not a coating.
You can sand them and spray 2K clear coat over them. Sanding and polishing or sanding and plain clear coat (with no hardener) will eventually fade and need to be polished again. |
