When this happens, the top of the valve doesn't get pressurized as it should. And with only spring pressure holding it closed, the diaphragm will randomly crack open causing a slight loss of boost. The ECU will compensate for this by dialing in more wastegate duty cycle. And when the diaphragm doesn't crack open, you are left with a big 20psi boost spike. I have seen this in at least 3 cars that have come to me for the problem you are describing. If this is your case, there is a quick fix.

To rule this distinct possibility out, tie wrap all the vacuum lines that you intercepted for your boost gauge. And then drive around your car with 0% user torque (should be ~7-8psi, not 10psi as you previously reported) for 10-15 minutes. Once boost is stable (no oscillations or spikes), then you can raise UT to 50%, then 75% then 90%. You should not see anything more than 15psi.

Also, make sure that you're boost gauge reads 0psi with the engine not running. Autometers are notorious for going out of calibration. You'll know if this is happening if the needle shows boost with the car not running.

Dude all you have is excuses.............

You know the V2 has boost spike issues, just man up to it and be honest. You tried to make eugen look like an ideot on a public forum and now you've heard of three cars having this issue? Why do I have a feeling there are more out there?

Autometer out of calibration? Dude WTF are you talking about? They are tested and calibrated before they get sent out. I've had the same boost gauge from autometer for over 7 years and its accurate within .4-.5psi compared to my FAST box.

Just the fact that you would mention something so stupid shows you are talking out of your ass.You got called out, just be honeset with everyone, and dispense with the bullshit.

You sound like a politician everytime you address someone's issues.

Yeah, thats right, I'm sure all of us have boost leaks.

And it's always someone/something else's fault.

Why did you not have the $50 firmware upgrade on top of the HUGE $400 upgrade, for people that are not interested in the PnP harness or simply don't think it's fair to pay another $400 for a "fix"?
Because everyting is about money, excuses, dishonesty and shitty service?

Let us know if you have more excuses.

Try to stay objective, guys.

In case you get your hands on a V3 PnP harness, it would be easy to figure out the changes compared to V2 and make a cheap V2 - V3 harness upgrade by yourself. Not the preferred way, IMO Shiv should offer such a version. I'm sure somebody on a different forum could make it for those who are not familiar with that kind of stuff.

I could provide the part-numbers, I still have a complete set of Deutsch & BMW connectors & pins here to build any kind of PROcede harness.

Shiv. Son, business is about ethics as well.

Cheers,
Eugen

Funny thing is that I don't even own one of his products and I'm ashamed to say I even considered it at one point.

This guy reminds me of people I know in other car communities. You gotta be part of the posee to get great tuning. The rest of the customers get a :finger:

If you've never owned any of his products, haven't experienced his cs one way or the other, and otherwise don't have a dog in the fight, why gallop around spreading manure?

I don't think this has anything to do with boost leaks. As I stated before I noticed the sustained spikes on my boost gauge, and as soon as I installed V3 about a week later, never had a spike, and V3 hit boost targets as advertised. I did re-calibrate my gauge following the manufacturers instructions before I used it for the first time.

When I installed V2 is was New Years day and about freezing where I live. I did not run V2 very long after the temps climbed into the 90's on a regular basis.

Think of the people with V2 that do not come here. Only Vishnu's database knows how many potential V2's are still in use. I think all of those people should be given a reminder to consider ambient temps, adjust user TQ, and purchase a boost gauge.
