What to expect from Manufacture Repurchase process

Hi everyone,

I was recently approved for the repurchase of my vehicle. Does anyone know if I can get any additional compensation for the inconveniences that I incurred? My vehicle has been out of commission for over 2 months now.

Are the repurchase agreement and additional inconvenience payments 2 separate processes, or do the inconveniences have to be addressed before signing the repurchase agreement?

Please let me know if anyone knows how the process goes from past experiences.

I assume you are talking about a quasi lemon law repurchase. I went through that with BMW for my prior vehicle (530e). Once BMW agreed to repurchase it, the company was terrific. They authorized payment of what I paid minus a fair amount for intervening use. They even let me hang on to it for a few months while the 530e that I ordered was manufactured and delivered. All the BMW rep asked was that I give them an order number.

They do not pay you for inconvenience nor any addons that you may have purchased. For example, I tinted my windows. They didn't reimburse for that.

All told, I thought that once BMW agreed to repurchase the car, the experience was terrific.

Incidentally, buying another BMW was not a requirement. I just wanted another one.

I went through this with BMW on an E34 many years ago. In my case it was a lease, so they simply "ended" the lease and no money was exchanged.

In my case, they didn't want to lose me as a customer, so they insisted that I replace it with a new car, but they sold that car to me at dealer cost, so that made it easier to swallow.

I did not get anything for my inconvenience, and I would expect that you would not get anything either. If they did not provide you with a service loaner and you had to rent something, then there is a possibility for reimbursement, but I'd suggest that you are unlikely to get anything more than that.

I'm glad the nightmare is over for you.
