Assessing sets of used tires/rims for 06 325xi

So I'd like to upgrade my 16" OEM rims/tires.
My runflats are getting old and bit rashed (gotta park on the street), along with the rims that have decent rash from previous owners.

There's lots of used OEM rim/tire sets for sale in Chicago, some looking like they haven't seen any miles.

Question is this: how do I assess what fits on my car? If there's an 18" set off an x3, how do I know they'll fit? Is there a fitment range chart anywhere that gives size ranges for a sedan with stock suspension?

I'll be honest that all the technical differences between options don't matter much (grip, ride, etc.).

And the dumb question: are the possible options different total diameters, and if so how do I adjust the speedo to know the difference?

I'd strongly recommend joining BMWCCA, then talking with these local guys.

Find the specs on your OEM wheels and compare. You'll want an offset that's similar or a bit lower. Higher offsets will put you closer to the strut and look very sunken in. Lower offsets will be out towards the fenders and going too aggressive will cause rub. A lot of OEM wheels from other BMWs will fit but may not look very good, but you'll need to be the judge of that. If you find a set you like, look up that fitment to see if anyone's run it before but it should be fairly close to OEM if you want a guaranteed fit.
