Excessive oil blow by + boost leak, could be PCV?

So I've got a decent amount of blow by on my N55 -- I'd say an almost abnormal amount. I have contemplated getting a catch can but I also am working to chase down a boost leak. I am curious if a failed PCV could cause both and what my options are to replace it.

Thanks,
Nate

I just replaced my charge pipe and noticed the inside was coated with oil. Seemed excessive to me, I've read N55 doesn't suffer from blow by issues like the N54. Not sure how much is "normal"...

What lead you to say yours is abnormal?

I'm in the same boat.......... If it's similar to mine it will get worse. My n55 will be completely torn down tomorrow and I'll let you know what I find.

Definitely let me know. I'm ripping out the entire intake system, fmic, hot and cold side piping and checking vac lines today trying to find this boost leak. Did a boost leak test yesterday and found a little leak at the TMAP sensor but I've fixed that now and still same problem.

Just the fact that there's a good amount, almost dripping when i pull the pipes off. It seems like it has an amount similar to reported N54's however, the N55 does not seem to report anything like it.

I'll take some pics when I pull the whole charge air system out today.

Forgot to take pics lol but found my boost leak. It is the joint where the turbo connects to the fmic piping. There's a little gasket in there that's not properly sealing. BMW doesn't even list the part number for it but I think I found the exact same one but off an F30. Going to try that part first then buy the whole pipe if I can't get the gasket by itself.

Oil issue is unresolved still... Pulled the fmic piping again today, not worse or better, starting to think it's normal and will just grab a catch can

Excessive oil blow by

I managed to get my engine completely disassembled and believe my excessive blow-by oil/consumption is the result of a bent #6 rod. Valves, cylinders, rings and pistons are all looking good.

Please educate me on how a bent rod can cause this.

A bent rod will cause the piston to sit slightly off and let oil past the rings.

I know this is super old post but did you replace #6 rod? Was that the cause of the excessive oil blow by?
