Help me code this newer FRM Module - Issue

I'm running into problems here folks.

2008 M3 - I believe the FRM module is going wonky. Real OEM lists a updated FRM module number which I believe I purchased.

Original part # - 6135 9166709 -02
Also shows E87 E9x AHL
PL2 FRM II

Newer part # - 6135 9390491 -01
FRM3R PL2

When I use WinKFP to change the VIN, I get an error -

"needed number 9390491 not found in file ..\DATA\konv.tmp\hwnr.da2"

What am I missing here?

Thanks.

did you work this out? i was getting the same trying to update my VIN on JBBF.

I am also trying to swap from FRMA - LED FRM 3 but the FRM module is not showing up in inpa or ista so i cannot find / pull the ZB Number to change the Module.

And it was working perfectly from the car i took it from so it's not a faulty FRM

I did actually.

Thank you for reminding me. I wanted to let know folks know how to address this issue.

The issue is the Daten Files. The files that I had did not include the ECU part number referenced by the new FRM. Once I redownloaded newer files, the ECU part number was contained within a complete folder name. It's really easy to check if you do/don't have the correct files. Just search for it within the folder structure.

As a reference, it was looking for folder '9390491'.

If your frm module isn't showing up in inpa and ista then it's dead. Common on frm3. If you're certain you installed it correctly then try to get a refund back from wherever you purchased it or send your unit out for repair

I bought a Complete car that had roof damage. The car was still running and driving.

lights, windows etc all working I took the entire Dash with CIC unit from it. along with all lights entire wiring loom all modules. I fitted the LED rear lights.

But my old FRMA has been problematic. for me. as my rear lights keep stop working.
I checked short circuit and was none, but if i factory code the ecu it resets and works for a while then the lights stop again. I did try resetting short-circuit counters even though it showed none and Ista+ showed no short circuit either. that did not work.

Hence why i want to use the other FRM.

Someone said to me last night, the just because it's FRM3 from another E90 doesnt mean its compatible. and i need to check the numbers. he couldn't remember what numbers but said he seen it on here somewhere.

As for installing i simply connected the 3 power connectors, and they were connected properly. then tried connecting it to my laptop to find the UIF number in INPA.

Although i seen a video that shows it being done without that, just selecting Update ZUSB and selecting the unit to be updated he done FRM2. and you could see FRM3 in his options list.

But it's not in mine, https://prnt.sc/MJi_1L2phQwt

his options.

https://prnt.sc/8qHA0_x6jKvJ

and we are both using same version of WINKFP

I know my coding skills are not great, as i am still unable to work out how to get my CIC Navigation working. but got no help on that front so far

If your frm module isn't showing in inpa then you won't be able to flash it with winkfp. I assume your windows, turn signals, cluster lights don't work right? Headlights stuck in low beam on mode? You also don't need to flash frm's when replacing them. Coding with ncs expert is sufficient. Change build date to 03/07 and code. But since your frm is not communicating there is nothing you can do to program it to the car. Needs to be removed and replaced or removed and repaired with a programmer like xprog or hexprog
