Pro bicycle racing.

Sunday 9/4 they held a pro 121.7 mile road race in Maryland.
The course was near my home so decided to walk down and watch.

The sound of a peloton of 40+ fast riders with all those chains rolling over all those cogs on all those bikes was neat.

Belgian Sep Vanmarcke won the race.

Yep, hearing chains on cogs is really cool.
Hearing a crash behind you in a braking zone that sounds like a tsunami is not fun.
I used to race USCF as a Cat 3 rider. Worst crash 42 stitches in my chin.

We watch the Tour de France every year. Switched to a mtn bike in my 30s, came in 3rd in a 12 mile single track race. Got laughed at when the race started up a hill. No room so just went up the hill last. Only 4 out of 25 even finished the race, lots of imposters there. The best racer got a flat. The others just sneaked back to their cars and left. Still use the seat bag I won but now on an ebike.

That sound of someone smacking a pedal in corner, in a Crit still makes the hairs stand up!
