Took delivery this morning, now I have an issue...

As the title states, I took delivery of my 2022 M240I BSM, tecora red this morning. Drove home and put her in the garage. At 2:04pm I received a call "Congratulations Brian, your ticket was picked and you just won a 2023 C8 Corvette."
I support the museum and buy tickets every so often. I am in complete shock that I actually won a Corvette.
Now I have to choose what to do. I have always been a Corvette guy and have owned 4 others. If only I waited til Saturday to pick up the M240i the decision would be easy. But I am leaning on selling the 240i as the experience of taking delivery of the Corvette at the museum is something I can't pass up.

Go for it man, if you're a Vette guy go with the Vette, it'll be equally or more fun. Your 240 is fresh off the lot so you should be able to recoup most.

Even though I've never owned an American car, I agree with MPR...if you're a Vette guy, go for the C8.

Mid-engine. Check

V-8. Check

RWD. Check

I think the decision is easy.

Keep both!

Even though I owned a corvette before I am not really a big fan of the current generation. I would drive them both and then make your pick on what`s leaving.

If you had to choose 1, you would have more fun in the Vette, imo. I'd sell the 240 and see if I could put that money to upgrade to a Z06

I wish I had the same issues lol

Put the corvette in storage with no mileage and sell it for a goldmine once they are phased out

Personally I think the c8 looks like a Camaro had a drunken one night stand with a Viper, but I've never cared for corvettes in general.

That said, congrats!!

The C8 is a pretty sweet ride. My friend has one and it's really a looker and way nicer than any vettes I've been in thr past.

The good news is the m240i has eniugh demand that it would be an easy sale and can recoup most of your cost. Not sure if you live in a state that has a 3 day loan recinsion (sp?) period. That could be a good loop hole.

Also, I agree with another poster. Keep both! BUT, if you can't keep both, take the vette. Sell the bmw to cover the taxes which will be significant.

I've owned a few Corvettes over the years - 2 C5's and a C6. I actually had a deposit on a C8 (with museum delivery), which I decided to cancel and order an M240i instead. I love the C8, but it spec'd out at around $85K and the M240i will be a lot more practical. Now, if I was given a free C8, it would be a much tougher decision. I've been to the museum many times over the years, but have never taken delivery there.

I had also owned a couple BMW's over the years, my favorite being a 1995 M3. My dad was a big BMW guy and my parents did European delivery a couple times.

when you say won a corvette, do you mean you got the car for free? or you won the opportunity to build and buy one?
if its the former then why not keep both? you can keep the miles low on the corvette and make a KILLING when you want to sell it.

What a problem to have.... Congrats! And to think at one point you were out of the 240 game altogether! Sell your current daily and make this your new two car garage

You have to accept the C8 you won, obviously.

What else is in your garage? I wouldn't want to daily a C8 in Indiana.

If you have another car I'd keep the C8 and pay the associated taxes on the winnings. Then sell the M240.

If you don't have another car, I'd accept the C8, pay the associated taxes and then sell it. Then roll with the M240.

Either way, you'll come out ahead financially.

My daily is a 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Veloce. My wife has a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica AWD for the dogs. My dealer wants the car back so we will see what they offer today.

Wow, that is incredible luck!

When you say that you "won" the C8 corvette is it truly paid for minus the tax owed, or do you need to pay for the full msrp? If your financial obligation is only sales tax on the value owed, that is an unbelievable deal!

You were mentioning how you wanted an M240 as a fun weekend car. Honestly though, the corvette will do that much better. I wouldn't hesitate if I were you and get the corvette. That's a bucket list opportunity!

If you get the vette, post pictures in this thread!

The tax obligation is federal (about $21K) and state ($6K). So I am basically paying $27k for an $84K Corvette. The museum has to collect 25% of the MSRP to send off to the good ole IRS. That's the $21k federal obligation.

If it was a C7 Z06 I'd be tempted. Still not sure how I feel about the C8's, even though they're mechanically superior? Congrats on the win!
