Disabling voiceover in navigation
One thing about the iDrive navigation system is annoying me: Whenever it is giving me directions, it turns down the volume of the music, often in the best parts of the song Is there a way to turn that off? I couldn't find that option in the manual.

When you have the large map screen up, there is an icon on the left side, push idrive knob left to scroll to the side menu, then rotate down to it and press the know. I think it is a speaker, but i'm not going out to the car to check.

I think it's actually the icon at the top of that column.

But that actually disables the voice directions all together. I am merely looking for a way to prevent the thing from turning down the volume of the music.

It's not possible. For some reason on one of my keys, the music will cut out all together when the nav is giving instructions and on the other key, it'll just turn down the music. Not even the dealership knows why that is....

Hmm...sounds like it's a customization setting that's programmed to the key fobs by the dealer or factory.

I may have an explanation for that and may can help with loosing the music volume thing too. Whenever you are getting voice commands, you can control the volume of the voice commands by turning the volume control while the voice commands are being given. If you wait before or after the voice command, the volume will only control the radio or phone (if it is being used). So in the case of the key fob, that one must have been turned all the way down while I drive was talking. Simply turn up the volume while I-drive is speaking and it will correct that.
For music, the opposite may help. Try turning down the Idrive voice when it starts to speak and see if it helps.
