As long as it hasn't been tampered with, it sure is covered.

I ask because I thought I remembered the dealership mentioning that it wasn't covered?

yes, the radio is covered...

Unless there are coins stuck inside caused most likely kids (i do see it a lot, the CD Player must look like a big coin slot for kids)

Coins will fall into and short the internal circuit boards, and will still be in there.

or if you spilled a beverage into it...

any defect of workmanship is covered under new vehicle warranty
