ISTA all modules red, INPA and protool happy as clams (SOLVED)

Hey!

So the car running fine and due to INPA and Protool accessing these modules without issue, my thoughts are it must be ISTA related.

I can connect to my car just fine, it just wont connect to any modules.

All visible modules show up in red.

I have been searching for hours making small ini and config changes to no avail.

Anyone have any idea how I should proceed?
Thanks regardless!

Read the two links under ista problems.
Problems with your PC could apply to any version.
I only know the Bimmergeeks version works haven't tried any other.
Tunes are known to stop diagnostics from working but usually
Inpa won't work either under those.

Really appreciate your help ctuna!

I went through the threads and downloaded a whole bunch of runtimes. And the ISTA app seems to work just fine, it just wont recognize the modules.

My registry files in the Rheingold folder look different than yours, should I just delete the discrepancies?

I did get a status 255 for my JBBF in INPA that is a bit confusing to me as well.

I feel like the more I dig the more I get lost here haha.

I'm using a one click ISTA installer and it seems to work just fine, I'm in admin mode, I have the runtimes by what I can tell.

I think that Inpa screen should display much more than it does.
If you pressed the same button's I do .
It should print out the hardware and software revision of each module.
Looks like you made some progress though.
The only version I have used is the bimmergeeks version.

If you look in the Bimmerprofs link it shows you what the screens should look
like and explains how to use it.(as good as anything I have seen except the other links)

Is your latency set to 1?

It’s a thor wifi adapter, but I tried with a cable with latency set to 1ms and com1 and the same exact thing occurs. Both work the same for Inpa as well.

@ctuna I will get that inpa readout for you today after work! Thanks!

Oh how I wish I had a more accurate way of describing the fix...

Long story short, I made a request in another forum for a different copy of ISTA and seems all my woes have been sorted. I highly recommend against paying teh $15 or so bucks for the self installer as it just did not work for me. Yes I know it's free, I thought the few bucks would SAVE me a headache not cause one.

But problem solved, so all is well in the world . Even the fresh install of a different version needed some tweaking and love, but all modules connecting now!
