Can I reset TPMS with ISTA?
My iDrive screen is blank and I don't have time at the moment to rip the dash apart again to check the wiring. I'm sure that's my issue anyway.
The problem is that I got new tires and, as expected the FTM light came on. However, on iDrive cars, there is no way to reset it via the steering colum stalk. You have to use iDrive menu/controller. Now, I searched through ISTA and I cannot find any way to reset/re-initialize TPMS. Is it possible? Can someone guide me to the right place? Edit: changed TPMS to FTM as my car (Canadian LCI) has FTM and not TPMS. EDIT: SOLUTION HERE: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1961347 Last edited by eljay; 10-11-2022 at 11:10 AM.. |

BTW, I have a Canadian LCI car and our cars did not come with TPMS, but only with FTM (Flat Tire Monitor). My bad for the misleading title. My ISTA is running fine. In ISTA, it's called Run Flat Indicator (RPA). The search for that shows "repair" procedure on how to do it via iDrive and that's it. (document # 3611000) I'm really surprised that this simple iDrive process cannot be done in ISTA. Since getting ISTA, I haven't used INPA much, but I will go snoop around there and perhaps will find something. I will post back if I do. |

As far as I know you can set it from the stalk for the rotational tire monitor
no matter what the year or head unit type. The calibration the rotational type that does not use wheel pressure sensors require you go into the menu do a reset an then drive a little. Don't know what the the pressure sensor type in the tire does. |

Found a way to do it with INPA!
So, for all folks looking for this in the future, here are the steps to reset FTM (Flat Tire Monitor) (aka RPA): 1. Load INPA and press F3 (or click E90) to select E90 2. Select Chassis > Dynamic Stability Control DXC (this is for xdrive cars) 3. Press F5 (or click on 'Status') 4. Press F3 (or click on 'RPA') 5. Press F1 (or click on 'RPA Reset') 6. There will be a brief message confirming a successful reset (RPA Data Written OK) DONE I will make a separate post to make it easier to find.
