I believe the parts you are asking about are these:

51118050585 - Air outlet cover, left
51118050586 - Air outlet cover, right
51118050623 - Retainer frame, air outlet cover, left
51118050624 - Retainer frame, air outlet cover, right

They are a two-piece design that sandwiches the bumper skin. The retainer frame fits onto the back of the hole in the bumper and then the cover snaps into the retainer from the front.
Thank you for that, just a few more questions, do the ducts then attach to the rear of the retainer frame? In theory if I didn't want the horizontal trim piece could I just order the retainer frame, which if I understand correctly will cover the tabs on the bumper, and then the duct would attach to that? Or would that look completely hideous?

Nope. The ducts attach to the oil cooler and the aux radiator. They are not attached to the bumper at all normally. Also, the retainer frame has the cross bar in it too so you would not want to install that.

If you are going more for the M3 look with just open ducts/scoops you would need to remove the tabs from the bumper and then figure out a way to secure the ducts to the bumper inside (assuming you do not have an oil cooler).

Okay I'm pretty lost haha, I am going for the M3 look with just the open ducts. Im not sure if I have the oil cooler or aux radiator. I guess I'm gonna have to take a look under the car and maybe order all the parts and see what I can get to fit and what I can't to get the desired look.

If you don't have the cooler then you will need to do some playing to get them to fit up. It is doable though.

jqzimm is spot on, if you don't have the radiators, the ducts don't have anything physically to bolt up to on the fender well side. But that doesn't mean you still can't install. I have the factory oil cooler, so my pass. side one bolted up just like stock, but on the driver's side I don't have the additional radiator, so I had to jury rig my setup a little bit.

You could just let the driver's side fender duct end at the back of the uncut fender, but I didn't like the idea of that which led me to install the vent from the 335is.

What I did on the Driver's side was buy the fender vent piece, cut the fender and installed, and then bought some low profile screws from BMW with the self locking C-clips, installed the C-clip on the duct, and screwed the vent and duct together. Worked really well. I also wire tied between a drilled hole in the brake duct and fender duct near the front to keep it all together.

I really wanna do this since I got M-Sport bumpers for my 07 335i and the fog light housing blocks all the air going to my oil cooler. If I have the factory oil cooler, exactly what parts do I need? I need the vent to the oil cooler on the passenger side and the vent to the driver side wheel well. Thanks in advance!

You will have more issues with that. The 335is is based on the LCI M-sport bumper so unless you did/do a full LCI conversion you won't be able to use the front grills. I do not know about the ducts.

No grills is fine. I just need to know if the ducts will fit. No grills = M3 and I dont mind that

The ducts are great with pre lci and looks best without grills. I cut the tabs for OEM grills and fitted IS water cooler at the same time. See images.

The orange hoses are brake cooling and has nothing to do with this mod.

jwzimm, I am a noob and I still don't quite understand what I need to retrofit this, please help
Background: 335i with LCI Msport dumper, oil cooler on pass. side and nothing on driver side.

Questions:
1. On the driver side, can I install just the Air outlet cover(51118050585) and Retainer frame(51118050623) without the Air duct and vent(51748050583 + 51747260405)? Is the only downside be blowing air into the cavity?
2. On the pass. side, is everything direct bolt on? All I need are:
51748050584 - Air duct front right
51118050586 - Air outlet cover, right
51118050624 - Retainer frame, air outlet cover, right

Thanks mate

1. You can do that, yes. The downside I would see is that you would be looking directly into the wheel well cavity when you look through the grill. That is up to you though.

2. Yes, everything is bolt on. You will need to trim off a couple tabs on your bumper that hold the fog light in place in order for the "is" grills to snap on. You will see when you get there.

Remove them. You can code out the bulb checks to get rid of the error messages. The other option if you cannot code (or find someone to do it) is to just plug the bulb into the wiring and ziptie it out of the way.

From a performance standpoint, removing the fog lights and installing the duct is supposed to put more air to the brakes for cooling. It also drops 1 lb from the car.
