Does MHD remove CAT efficiency CEL??

*My Dilemma*

I need to have my emissions but my own cats are gutted. with my tune, it doesn't even allow the Cats or O2 sensors to be ready. When I go stock tune, everything is ready but I will have a check engine for Cat efficiency in both banks.

Is there still an O2 fix out there? Also I have MHD, does either of the stages remove the check engine light and let everything be ready?

No, MHD will remove the code but not show them as ready. Some states will allow 1 or 2 monitors to not be ready and you can pass emissions, but for other states you will need to purchase the catalytic converter fix which emulates them and shows them ready.

I'm full catless with MHD, I only showed O2s not being ready and was able to pass emissions in RI. Some more detail in this thread:

Not sure why my cats showed ready but yours don't. Did you recently clear codes and not have a proper drive cycle for the cats to show readiness with MHD?

I don't know for other stages ? but for Stage 2 and 2+, MHD will shadow the codes so there isn't a light on the dash board.

Thank you everyone for you replies! I actually had a custom tune loaded though MHD and i utilized the Stock tune from MHD for troubleshooting.

I will give the MHD Stage 2/2+ a shot first since it is quicker and a cheaper route.

JM98 Thank you for the link. I've been looking for those for months. I didnt think they made it anymore for the N54 engine.

Generally speaking MHD will get rid of the O2 sensor CEL.

Sometimes you can get CEl's still. There are ways to remedy this phenomena. One, you can reset the pre & post O2 sensors in MHD. Two, you can replace all 4 O2 sensors. Three, sometimes the problem is with the seals. Seals meaning the turbo seal between the downpipe & turbo or the gaskets where the mid-pipe & downpipe meet. So, you have to change them .& make sure that the downpipes are clocked right & there is as much of an airtight seal as possible. This takes patience and knowing how to line them up etc.

My O2 sensors are actually operational. Its just the custom Tune that i have on ignores the Post Cat O2 sensors and just reads the Pre-Cat. In result, the My Cats and O2 sensors won't Ready for emission, but I do not have a CEL.

If I go back Stock Tune, Everything goes ready, but I end up with a CEL because it detects my CATs are gutted.

But I am going to try loading the Stage 2/2+ in MHD to see if works over the weekend.

Have you tried turning off the burble tune? You might have fried the o2s already but I would drive it stock for a while to limit any added variablity of sending unburt fuel into your exhaust.

I know this is an old thread, tuned with MHD stage one..about to install intercooler and downpipe. Would like to go catless, but don't want to have any issues getting a state inspection. I'm in NYC, can MHD code this out and allow to pass MVI?

NYS inspection allows one monitor to be not-ready so going catless is not a problem. If you're using the OTS maps any Stage 2 map should do the trick.

always can do a DP Fix even if you don't have a DP.

Yep. It won't show anything on the dash....but if you scan for codes you will get some.

You should be able to, I've got a custom tune on my car and it sets readiness for all except cat. Lambda/throttle oscillation fix needs to be turned off otherwise O2 and heater won't set ready.
