benefits of DI vs PI
I'm just curious if anyone on here could tell me the benefits of Port injection over Direct, and if there are any downsides to it. I kind of want to go PI simply because it would be cheaper to swap to PI over spending $3600 on index 12 injectors, but I wanted to know about any downsides you all might have experienced.
I plan on going FBO, nothing too crazy, stock turbos. Willing to spend a little more time doing the PI swap and spend a little less money (if possible) in the long run lol. Thanks in advance |

First....why are you wanting to buy a full set of index 12 injectors? Did all of yours just go bad? You can mix and match any index injector you want as long as you code them in correctly.
As for as DI advantages.....better MPG, better fuel atomization, you can run more compression on a given fuel octane, you can control where the fuel gets injected during the compression stroke, it will make more power vs. no DI setups.....etc. There is a reason(s) so many car companies have switched over to DI setups. The downside is that you don't have fuel cleaning your valves....you have to get them walnut blasted every 30k-ish miles. No need to completely delete the DI setup....just replace your bad/leaking injectors with new ones....any index will work 👍 |
