I didn't have any window cleaner so I mixed white vinegar and water in a spray bottle and cleaned my windows with it.

It seemed to do an adequate job.

Is this a good idea?

Vinegar is acidic and breaks down rubber.
It could also adversely affect your paint too.

I was going to say it might be an issue for tints but after googling it seems fine. Go right ahead. It's really not a problem with the rubber. Diluted you will never cause harm to paint or rubber.

What products do you guys use for windows?

I've used a generic sprayway glass cleaner and invisible glass for the interior windshield. Both products leave a haze during the night. I used a clean glass only microfiber towel each time.

I use CarPro Calrify and CarPro glass towels and no streaking here. Invisible glass should be a pretty good product to I had tried it before. What changed it for me was really getting a good glass specific microfiber towel. Also not sure on your technique but I will do a cleaning pass then take another full dry towel and do a dry pass. Actually on the inside I use one of those triangular far reach tools as well.

I have used a 50/50 vinegar & water mixture in a spray bottle for cleaning windows for the last 30 years.
Works great interior and exterior! Doesn't harm anything in my experience.
Use newspapers to clean with it, that's the magic trick!

Who advised you to do this? Did you read it somewhere or try on your own? I always use water and newspaper, works like a charm and results are shinny. Never tried vinegar or never heard in my surroundings using it.

I figured out how to clean my windows. Worked well with any product.

1. Apply Rainx Invisible glass on a clean glass specific microfiber towel or waffle style and clean glass. Product will be left over.
2. Use another clean glass specific microfiber towel or waffle style microfiber to finish up the job.
3. Throw them into laundry after each car.

Using separate microfibers and not spraying the product directly onto the glass made a world of a difference. I can finally see at night.

Diluted vinegar should be fine. I use the rainx tint safe window cleaner. The key is just seeing tint safe specifically listed on there and it should be fine for all rubbers and plastics it might come in contact with.
