Threw a code on my NM trip. Replaced VANOS solenoids DIY, but had a leak in vacuum hose for wastegate actuator that was the culprit. No big deal.

OK, so now I have a woman friend in Berlin. I like the city -- embarrassed of my previous 'Munich is more fun' snobbishness. But hey, this once again has me contemplating another ED. My quandary is what car to get? What does BMW make today that beats a mechanical steering, LSD, tuned, M-suspension 335?
Answer: the new M3.

So another ED. The Welt is awesome! I took an ambitious tour through Bavaria, Italy, and Austria. Absolutely phenomenal scenery and culture.

Nice. I have a similar opinion on the F30/80. I really like the drive of the E90, its hard to get accustomed to the new greenhouse and views out of the vehicle. I feel much more enveloped by the newer car.

It's an evolutionary trend. I still miss my 2002tii, it was like driving a fishbowl. I never thought I would get a 'vert, but if the Z2M is <2500 lbs. I am jumping into that.

Loving the dedicated thread for your 335. Trying to figure out my living situation right now.. if I decide to move outside of Manhattan, I may consider picking up your 335.
I picked a beautiful and well-maintained 335 last year but sold it this past May because I moved into Manhattan. Couldn't justify having it around.. I miss it a lot though.

Nine years later... Forgot to finish the saga. Sold my 335 to a young enthusiast who is taking great care of her. I have had my F80 M3 for more than a year and 20k miles, so a good basis for comparison. The M3 is faster, more luxurious, more solid. The E90 was more nimble and had better visibility out the windows. I miss the sunroof but the M3's CF roof is techno-cool. Yas Marina Blue attracts a lot of attention. I would like an i-8 but they are out of my price range. Still hoping for a super-lightweight Z2M for the next ED.

i8
Got a 2019 i8. Love it. Delighted at the sensory feedback. This is a BMW driver's car: laser sharp steering, corners on rails, great interior, cool flip-up doors. Automatic tranny is a bit milk-toast, AWD w electric motors up front mitigates power oversteer, windows don't retract completely, visibility/greenhouse a bit claustrophobic (but relatively good for mid-engine exotic). I lightened it up a bit and got some Michelin Pilot sports. Overall a really wonderful and exciting BMW. Works well as a DD, 30 mile electric range, but I have a Toy 4runner for serious adventures and loads.

Interesting to look back on your life as a series of BMWs. Started out with my uncle's Isetta. Such a cool car! 18 and got a used 1600ti, took it apart and rebuilt it. then another 1600, a 2002, and a 2002tii. Bit of a jump to a 323i ED, then the 335i in this thread, an M3, and now an i8. They have each been the best cars of my life. Can't imagine what is next, the i8 is such a great car!
