Maintenance for Blow By Oil found by Diverter Valves
There has been a lot of discussion lately on the blow by oil that goes through the turbo, back into the intake and intercooler....
If you do not have an oil catch can, is there any way to clean this blow by oil out? I have 27k mi on my e90 335i. After running WOT and coming to a stop my engine will shutter, as if the idle is too low. I'm wondering if the blow by has coated my intake and intercooler and is limiting air flow... But back to my orginal question, does anyone know of a product or a way to clean this blow by oil out? thx in advance. |

Pull the intercooler and wash it with solvent? The turbo -> intercooler plumbing should be relatively easy to free as well. The intake side might be trickier.

depends if your engine produces much blow-by. The usual solution is to plug the intake and connect the crankcase breather to a catch can, but this is certainly not emissions legal in CA. It's unlikely this phenomenon is affecting the performance of the car at your milage and age, and I personlly would not tear my car apart because of it at this point.

I have a performance charge pipe with diverters and an oil catch can. It seems to be working well for the first few hundred miles.

Does Samco make them for the e92? They're a good name in silicone charge pipes/hoses.
