Broken Radiator Plug - Info about new one

Vehicle: E90 328i Xdrive 2011
Engine: N52
VIN: NN85977
KM: 164500
Issue: low coolant light on dash
Potential cause: Radiator plug blew out, draining coolant

When doing my thermo + water pump I accidentally broke the small plastic tabs holding the black outer shell of the drain plug for the radiator (where blue portion threads in).

Assuming it would be fine (duh, obviously wasnt) I re-installed it and it seemed to hold well, no leaks. Fast forward 2 weeks, and it blew out of my rad on the way home from work, fully draining my coolant (no overheat though, got home in time).

So, long story short, putting in the new entire 2-piece plug , once in should it get a 1/4 turn or something to ensure those two plastic tabs are held in place?
I'm a bit gun-shy to just give it a go again without confirmation lol

Don't force it to get tight, it just locks in. When I did mine I could feel the plastic tabs hit and get seated into the right spot
