Anyone recommend a good indoor Car Cover?
I'm looking for an indoor car cover with a soft interior that won't damage the paint that won't break the bank. The car will be indoors, so this will mainly be for dust. Also looking for something that has a little bit of leeway since I have a wing on my M4.
So far I have come across Seal Skin: https://sealskincovers.com/collectio...m4-coupe-210ox Carcover: https://www.carcover.com/bmw/m4/2022/coupe-2-door.html and Weathertech: https://www.weathertech.com/bmw/2022...y-style/coupe/ Weathertech looks really nice, but is almost $500, much more than the other two. Is is that much better? Is it too form fitting to accomidate my wing? Any experience with any of these or have any other recommendations?

well the (top two) sealskin and carcover.com look like 100% waterproof covers and in that case outdoor covers. I believe you want a cover that breathes.
The Weathertech specs read as an indoor cover only and breathable, but without a fabric swatch to feel and not having handled one in person I don't know. Now this was a big story a few years ago. May want to google to see if my tale is correct. So from what I recall, in the U.K. a gentleman started a very high-end car cover company. And somehow he wound up murdered. I'm curious if this is the company (link following). https://www.specialisedcovers.com/silk-reveal So a silk very thin form fitting or reveal cover may be the gentlest on the finish. You never want to drop a cover over the paint, always want to fold up the sides the rollup from back to front. |

I meant to write ' you never want to drag a cover one the paint' I wrote "drop". Also if your car is dusty from driving and to come back home and park it then immediately use a car cover without first washing it is probably not ideal. |

I have these for four of my cars, including one that is black. They are excellent. I would have paid more if necessary, but very happy with these:

I have the Weathertech cover. It is very soft and very breathable (see later comment on this). I have a G82 CX and stock rear spoiler and everything fits well. There is plenty of stretch and extra material. It actually wraps underneath the front and rear bumper. So..it might fit over your rear fin? Call them to discuss. There is also extra material included to fit the mirrors extended, but usually mine are folded in when parked. I. do garage it, never outside, while home. There is also extra material included for the fin on the roof. I have been very pleased, but i have noticed very fine dust does get thru it however. I do fold it up back to front and from the sides never sliding it over the front hood panel, roof or truck areas. I primarily got it to keep live oak tree pollen off the surface of the paint. It is very easy to see it when sitting behind the wheel the front hood looks yellow. This stuff is real bad and damages paint even with good wax. It manages to find its way into a garage, especially if doors are left open even a few hours a day - wind mainly. My front hood, sides mirrors and front pillar are PPF'd rest is ceramic coated, both are Expel.

I have a Covercraft car cover for my 135i. It's an indoor/outdoor cover. Been using it for about two years now for indoors without any issues. The cover is made to order and took a bit for me to get. The material is some sort of hybrid fabric which is pretty soft and supposedly breathable. Covercraft changed their line up of car covers so I don't know what would map to the Block-It 380.

Been pretty happy with one of these cheapo Amazon covers. Soft and thin, gathered at the bottom so it doesn’t hit the floor. Does the job keeping dust off. Don’t use one on the M4 so I don’t know what size would fit.

I've tried a handful of different indoor covers. My favorite are the ultra soft and stretchy lycra ones like the Weathertech you linked to...which also happens to be the same as the Ferrari branded ones I have from the dealer which they sell for like $700 or something stupid.
Then one day I'm driving in an industrial part of the SFV (on Oxnard near Gintani) and see a sandwich board with a handwritten sign "CAR COVERS --->" I go in and it's an old guy with a random car parts store with boxes on boxes of covers. $50 each. It feels the same, so I buy one. I go home to compare them and they are absolutely identical, down to the stitching. |
