Looks like the new bit of info which zero21 mentioned was coming in the Scottsdale thread is the additional bracing on the G87. That's something I haven't seen mentioned before. They said they added additional bracing on the C-pillars for better suspension compliance and to keep the wheels planted over bumps. They also mentioned an additional plate under the hood, but when asked to explain they didn't answer. Seems like he was answering both questions and got caught up on the C-pillar parts and never got around to talking about the hood. I need to know what that plate under the hood does.

Months ago I did a thought experiment on how this vehicle would weigh so much and actually asked "where are the ballast boxes"? I think we just heard about 40-50lbs of steel bracing that is added I can live with 20-25kg if it adds significant rigidity. |

Then there is an additional plate under the hood in addition to the triangular strut brace, that doesn't get discussed in any detail. If that is the case it either hasn't been present in the pre-production cars or can't be seen from the top of the engine bay with the hood open. |

But if extra bracing is contributing to weight for a stiffer, better performing chassis, bring it on! |

I wonder what on earth they mean by M2 looking more extroverted than M3/M4.
When it comes to exterior looks I interpret “extroverted” to mean “loud” and M3/M4 look louder to me … |

That's more enough driving tech for me, I have the 360 cameras on my G42 and the missus X6 and we never use them in either of those. The auto tilt side mirror is all I really need to watch for big curbs and the reverse camera with the green tracking lines work well enough, but I can understand some people might miss the 360. |

How do you see the "curb stops" in parking lots that atr in front of the car? Maybe you don't have them in your area? They are too low for the front sensor to puck them up and activate the front parking warning/camera but high enough to scrape the front lip. |

Info on the additional bracing around the C-pillars and under the hood.
"Under the hood, there’s a reinforcement plate under the circled area in the photo below, on both sides of the engine bay. There’s also a the same V-shaped strut tower brace, which meets at the front end, just as there is on the BMW M3 and M4. Both of those structural braces increase stiffness and sharpness in the front end, making the M2 turn in better by removing chassis slop. At the rear, there’s some C-pillar reinforcement as well, which makes its rear end stiffer." "One of the reasons for the increased rigidity is to allow the suspension to do its job. If the chassis is stiff and there’s no slop, then the dampers can handle the weight of the car on their own, which allows for more driver control. It also means you don’t need super stiff suspension to make the car handle well, so the car can ride better." BMWBLOG: How BMW Mastered Making the New M2 Stiffer and Sharper |

Nothing to do with being in the city. I park at the end of the lot no matter where I go to avoid all the idiots who kick their doors open and put dings in yours. These are the same morons who pay zero attention and backup into cars when reversing and leave their shopping carts in the middle of the lot so the next gust of wind can blow it into your car. I literally was at Mariano's this past weekend and saw a cart get blown into a guys bumper just as he was coming back to his car. My car was at the end of the lot, safe from all the knuckle draggers.
