so roads here are terrible it seems

i can see silver/grey metal under stone chips, all over the bonnet and front door!

do i need to touch up with paint to prevent rusting?

Yes, once those chips are sealed up you might think about some PPF in those areas.

On the doors? Do you have spacers on the front wheels? But anyways, yes put a bit of touch up paint in each one (clean it first with IPA) and put a dab of clear coat on top. It's not going to look great but better than rust. And people wonder why PPF is so popular.

no spacers. it has the miserly 225 stock fronts. and i am going to 245 when i use these up!

IPA is alcohol?

Yes IPA is alcohol. Dilute it 50/50 with water (distilled preferred) before you touch up the spots. It will remove any contaminates and waxes that may have found its way in the chip.

Bonnet and side doors are aluminum. So they won't rust. But I suppose given enough years, some kind of corrosion will begin.
