Need assistance with radio
Hey everyone!
So I have created an issue for myself and I am hoping that someone can assist me in rectifying what I have done. I was coding in a new FRM2 to my 2008 328i and not paying attention, I hit process car, not process ECU. When doing this, my car started thinking it is an automatic among many other things like thinking it is a Logic7 stereo. I have been able to fix everything except for the headunit itself. It thinks it it TopHiFi. The headunit has always worked without issue until this happened. I had all the TopHiFI modules listed in NCS (CAPPL ect.) Again, I have fixed my layout including removing $677 and adding $676 I have tried SG_Reset and the headunit restarts but that is it. I cannot read or write to the unit (2URAD). Anyone have any ideas of what to do or should I just replace it. Any and all help is greatly appreciated |

TopHiFi is option 677 or 688 depending on the year of the car and which version
of the idrive head unit you have I believe 688 started in 2010. 676 is hi Fi which is and analog amp . Run Mdecoder.com on your Vin to see what the car came with for starters . The Hi Fi amp behind the wheel well is much smaller unit with on one connector The Top Hi Fi amp is like a large silver brick with two connectors going in one if for the Most Bus. "The headunit has always worked without issue until this happened. I had all the TopHiFI modules listed in NCS (CAPPL ect.) Agreed
I went to Mdecoder and I put the VO back in exactly as they had laid out. $676 is the HiFi option I have. However, the radio/headunit when going into "hidden" features by holding the M button after turning it on, shows that it is coded for TopHiFi. I have never changed the unit, it was a HiFi unit til I screwed up |

If you can read the current Head Unit files .
There will be lines that say what it is. There 3 to 5 files on the early idrive's I don't know what in them exactly but there should be nothing saying top hi fi. Also just changing the VO does not write the module you have to code each module effected by the VO change . Go to the coding sub forum for details |

I could not read any files from the radio, and I also tried to recode it using tool32 from another post I found.. Ended up buying a new headunit from a local salvage yard for $20 I do really appreciate your time you took with my post.. Thank you! |
