Heated steering wheel (FOUND)

Title says it all. After a regular heated leather steering wheel. Just the wheel. Thx!

Found one. Thanks CrownGlass for a great transaction.

Are you doing a retrofit or something?

Would you believe me if I told you I had the wheel in my hands and left it on the ground? Lol. I went there to pull steering column, popped airbag out, realized it was heated and pulled clockspring and column trim and a few other things, then left without taking the wheel. I’m an idiot.

It’s probably still on the ground there and I do need to head back to return this steering column, but we’ll see…

Really appreciate the heads up! If you become aware of one elsewhere let me know. Thanks!

So, sounds like you are doing a retrofit? I've done 3. Two on '06 and one on an '11. I'm Near Sarcee and 144 Ave N if you'd like some help/advice/encouragement.

I have some programs that check those sites several times per day to let me know when a new car shows up on the site. I will try to remember to post here when I see one and decide to run the VIN.

I found that steering wheel on the ground!
Haha
I thought it was a bit odd it was discarded! Especially as it was heated.
Don’t worry I put it back in the car to keep it dry!
Man people really rip the cars apart in there, people just throw parts all over the ground and destroy parts to get to what they need.
I was after the L7 subs but they were already taken within the few days the car had been there.

Correct. Retrofit! Wanted to do it for a while but hasn’t been top of my priority list.

Thanks man—really appreciate that. I am curious what wire you used and where you tapped into 12V?

Ah man thank you that’s very nice! I did end up buying one off another forum member (CrownGlass) but when I go to return the steering column I don’t need I will check and see if that wheel is still there. The one I bought has been wrapped, so just on the off chance that impacts the heating to a noticeable degree I figure it wouldn’t hurt to have another one on hand.

If for some reason you head back there before I do, grab it if you don’t mind and I’ll come pick it up off you.

Funny you mention the L7 subs. When I was there I met a nice guy who was pulling all that stuff for a retrofit. It’s funny because he also lamented people who just hack up the car to get what they need. He was taking his time pulling all the wiring harnesses and doing it without ripping the doors and everything else apart, which I definitely respect.

The wrap will be fine. Mine is wrapped and the heat works well.

I've used 18 gauge and 14 gauge, depends what I happen to have handy at the time. As long as it's the same size or larger than the factory wiring leading to the thing it'll be OK.

I've done it twice in an '06 and once in an '11. For some reason I feel it was easier on the '06's. But in any case, I tapped into the cigarette lighter power in the center console.
