Pulstar plugs ........ heard of 'em?

I had my Borla exhaust and Logic HVI installed the other day and was reading about Pulstar plugs in one of the car mags. Just checked out their website and found this statement:

Pulstar™ pulse plugs will improve all aspects of combustion quality in your car. You will notice improved throttle responsiveness, more torque and better fuel economy. The amount of performance will depend on the make, model and condition of your vehicle. In general, you should expect torque to increase by 4 to 12% and realize a significant improvement in fuel economy.

So have any of the performance gurus heard of these? The maker claims they do NOT void ANY manufacturer's warranty if used in place of oem plugs. The extra torque would be nice ...........

Chime in!

I thought so too however, the logic seems to work ......... their website is pulstarplugs.com (not sure if I'm allowed to post the link MODS).

Interesting read if nothing else.

By the way, these are pricing out @ $25.00 per plug.

Pulstars are ok plugs. Best for highperformance plugs are iridium spark plugs. However, haven't heard of any aftermarket plugs that fit our vehicles yet .

Had a feeling.

Just shot 'em an email asking if there was an application available for vehicles newer than 2006 (their guides only show up to model year '06) so I guess we'll see.

Off topic ........ I see you have/had? a '67 camaro SS? LoL ....... I learned how to drive a stick in a 1969 RS/SS convertible ...... ended up being my first car

Classic style never dies .....

They don't have ones that will work with the N54 engine. Couple of folks here have ordered them, only to return them because it won't fit... including me. I don't know why they continue to advertise fitment for the N54 engine when it won't even fit.

I have used pulstar plugs before on a HIGH HP engine.

The plugs are alright, but I didnt see the performance improvement as claimed. The only advantage it offered me was that I could utilize a slightly larger plug gap which enabled a better idle and part throttle tune as I was able to reduce the injector turn on times and alter the phasing a tad bit. THATS IT.

Don't get spark plugs hoping to get POWER out of them. Iridium plugs last the longest, platinum is alright and copper is the best conductor for a spark plug as a extremely small and harmless part of the copper breaks off every time and helps with igniting potential residual fuels in the combustion chamber. Copper also lasts the least compared to the other materials.

Was the car in the ad a 350z? I think I may have seen it in a Road and Track or something.

Yea, I got the 67 SS from my Dad...he bought it as a graduation present for me...just graduated today. I too learned how to drive a stick off of it for the first time in my life starting a week ago lol. Classic style is definitely awesome. Not a bad graduation present...car needs only a little minor work to be in show quality so I count that as pretty amazing . The 335i was a present from my grandma for graduation as well. I pretty much lucked out .

I wish I had got cars back when I graduated...

I was pretty happy to walk away with about 300 bucks total cash from various in-laws....

I'll probably buy my son a bus pass for his graduation... LOL (kidding)

Remember the claims that were made when the split fire plugs first came out?

Some one with a evo had these plugs and the end of the plug broke off and owned their motor. I would not waste my money on plugs.

This does happen- sometimes it just goes out the exhaust and gets stuck elsewhere. Our problem is if anything comes out the exhaust under boost other than exhaust, probably not so good for the turbo impeller.

Another WELL KNOWN manufacture had a problem with this a few years ago. And no, the plug manufacture won't replace your motor.

Not sure about these plugs, but generally Iridium's are the way to go, especially in boosted applications (although I can't say specifically for the N54). Air (like water) is an insulator; under boost (denser air) the plug needs more juice to fire.

Pulstar Pulse Plugs

Gentlemen, I am the CEO of Enerpulse, Inc. the maker of Pulstar pulse plugs. I noticed your discussion of our product and was concerned that someone posted a potential quality. I encourage you to inform us of this if you haven't already. We are a new company and quite eager to make sure our product lives up to our customer's expectations. If there is a problem we want to make it right.

For your information we currently only make 14MM pulse plugs. So if application information is missing it is because some of the newer BMWs and especially the M3 require 12MM plugs, which we will have in 2009.

Meanwhile, we would like to get some dyno results from you guys. If anyone has access to a dyno and would like to test Pulstar we would provide you with with a set free for the right car and dyno conditions. If you find yourself in Albuquerque, we'll dyno it for you.

We look forward to all inquiries.

Please tell me that you did not get TWO cars as gifts for graduating high school? That would officially qualify you for the most spoiled kid title on E90post
